Default Running Ranger.

Here's a thought experiment; I rather like to Explore, so I was thinking after I come off work I would try to run from Beacons Perch to Camp Rankor - I Vanquished about 1/2 way through the other night.

Seeing as I dont run an Assassian - who seem to be the Runners of Choice I thought. I would just try with my Ranger.

Possible Running Ranger Builds

I OgEUQnqd5sGIW1K+4p21FPAA
II OgMV0indXsk5AxPO1F/4uGhYEA

Not sure if I wanted to go for a warrior's signet of Healing,
or a Monks Pacifism, for those times when one lone Mob is playing outlier and blocking the path through. Anyone interested is welcome to suggest tweaks.

If not not;
Probably make the Try Monday Night.

You won't even get close using either of those builds. They're not built for running, as you have damage there.

If you want to run as Ranger, I'd suggest you go R/A, or at a push, R/D or R/Mo so you have some form of anti-spell. In order to run from beacons to rankor you'll have to pass 90% slowdown hexes, KDs from Wurms and Giants and Ghosts, and a reasonable bit of damage.

Unless you really want to try and run from beacons to rankor, i'd just say don't bother, and fight your way down there (or better yet just get a runner).

http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:R/any_Escape_Runner If you slap Holy viel in this one, you might manage it, won't be easy though.

No offence but those builds are going to fail miserably. I run a lot on my ranger and here are the various builds I've used.

1)
The basic runner
(Only ranger skills, somewhat outdated)
OgAScZsGpG4Hn4FX4+e1
This build is mediocre for running, it's not nearly as quick as some of the other builds out there but it works for most places that don't have heavy hex's. You would face a massive challenge trying to get this to work for a beacons run.

2)
Semi-SF-Runner
(Ranger/Assassin skills, recommended build for ranger running these days)
OgcTcXv9ZSn5uM1gVimEBC3ZFEA
This build is going to be the build to use for 90% of the runs you do. It's quick, has high survivability and has Shadow Form in case things get hairy. This build can handle a beacons run with ease. Remember to take some alcohol with you to use so you don't get knocked down by worms whilst using Dwarven Stability.

3)
Perma-SF-Runner
(Ranger/Assassin Skills, Can be used for any run but specialized for certain areas)
OgcUcF86tPTNQ/a3l8I6MHQ4OrgA
This is a build aimed at running really intense areas such as the southern shiver peaks (Camp Rankor to Marhans Grotto for example) that build #2 just can't handle as permanent shadow form is a must. This build is definitely aimed at runners trying to push the limits of what can be done with ranger running in hard to run areas. Though this build can be used for running anywhere in the game I would recommend using build #2 over this for "normal" runs that don't require permanent SF.

Remember also that having a weapon set for running helps drastically. +5e and 20% enchant on you're main hand weapon is a must. A survivor armor set and energy armor set can also be helpful too in harder runs.

Whisper me in game on Sorrows Quickshot if you got any questions about running, wouldn't mind passing on what I know.

Lornar's Pass is particularly difficult with rangers, you'll need some kind of anti-spell like shadow form. The rest of the run can be done with dwarven stability, dodge, zojun's haste and an anti KD.

I run it with OgcSc5PT3lpGsS0koi6M4OuM

Well yea,
I know I could pick up a runner to DF for a plat or so; the challenge is in doing it; I do appreciate the guidance and suggestions so far, had not thought about an R/A build (Doh) but I've never run an Assassin so ... not too big a (Doh).

Still will definitely look at the Builds you've suggested. TY. Esp the Ranger Only build.

TY much again. BB.

Another thought. In other threads you let us know you have worked your current character up to ascending by completing the desert missions. Best way other than paying for a run to Drok's is to get with a group and complete Dragon's Lair. Once the main mission (you don't need bonus) is complete, you will be in Drok's.

If you really want to move from Beacon's to Drok's today, my son and I may be on later. Give a shout if you still need to go and I'll see what we can do about taking you at least to the War Camp.

The offer is much appreciated, unfortunately I have weekend watch at work just now, which is why I’ll probably make my try Monday;

But like I said at the top of the thread, I really just like exploring; for me one of the best parts of the game is just heading out a door and seeing how far I can get before I get wiped or run out of pockets for my loot (less likely) or just call it a night. Paying no attention to the Main Story arc or Quests.

Two nights ago I Vanquished my way halfway through before I failed at sneaking by a huge mob of Grawl, (should have pulled them apart but it was 3am) Anyhow It’s always struck me odd that Rangers are supposed to be the Wilderness Guru’s but every Running Video I see features an Assassin. So I got the idea to see if I could get any further running next time just as an experiment, if not, not.

Still I should do Dragons Lair soon, and would be happy to friend Ur toon and keep a look out for you then if your interested. Thanks much again for the Offer. Blessings BB.

Rangers were forge running before Factions, it can be done once you have learnt the place and know how the spawns move. It's a real challenge but one that makes you feel great when you do it. Nowadays it is very easy with the PVE skills and SF/Vow. I would recommend it, not least for some of the best scenary in the game; stop off in the temple to Grenth at the bottom or Lornar's Pass.

Thank You for the heads up,
I believe I had a peek at that temple, but did not get up close as slipping through a cave, (full of trolls) looked better the other night with a full team; will have to make sure I have a closer look tomorrow night when I'm running. Honestly If I make that far on the First Run - Thumbs up!! Will post a capture. : ) BB.

Mar 13: Well I made it to Camp Rankor tonight, but I'm afraid I had to settle for Vanquishing my way through, going to have to polish my Running skills in a somewhat less demanding enviroment before trying that run again; but I deeply appreciate all the help offered the last few days. TY all. BB.
